Israel Rivera is a first-generation immigrant, born in Monterrey, Mexico, and traveled to the United States as a child and now considers himself a Dallas native. He attended 9 different public schools in the Dallas metroplex and graduated from Skyline High School. He then attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of North Texas at Denton, where he earned his bachelors degree in Advertising.

Prior to becoming an educator, Israel worked as a graphic designer at The Richards Group in Dallas, while he attended college. In 2005, he shifted careers and became an alternative certification teacher, so that he could raise his 4 adopted sons.  While a teacher, Israel won numerous teaching awards and honors.  He earned his masters in educational leadership from A&M Commerce during his 5th year as an educator.  Soon after, he got the attention of district leaders who offered him many responsibilities that would soon launch his leadership career.

Israel is artistically talented and invests his spare time learning innovative technology trends.  He's very much a self-motivated learner and is constantly learning new ways to develop staff members and build leadership capacity within the organization. He truly believes that an educator's job is never finished, and that our communities continue to need our support.

Israel has been a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Dallas ISD. He is now the executive director of Parent Advocacy and oversees the Family and Community Engagement department and the Homeless Education Program.  He resides in northwest Dallas area, near Bachman Lake, and is excited to return to the work that the Bachman Lake Together team has in store.
