Parent Leadership Working Group Launched to Grow Parental Support

Since the start of Bachman Lake Together, parent leadership has been at the core of our impact. We support parents in Bachman Lake because we know the crucial role a parent plays in their child’s life and their family’s wellbeing.

By amplifying parent voice, we are living our core values to further our impact. We create an inclusive and equitable environment fostering open and honest communication utilizing parents as a constituent strength and voice. For us, it is imperative that parents are at the forefront of every level of decision-making to ensure that their voice is not left behind. We embrace this unique strength in collective action alongside parents so that we can learn, decide and act together.

Our parent leaders don’t just learn about early education – they take action to unite the Bachman Lake community to fully prepare children for kindergarten and ensure that our community has the resources needed for families to thrive.

We are continuously searching for ways to improve our strategy and deepen our support for parents and their families. As a result, we are happy to formally announce the launch of our Parent Leadership Working Group! Through this Working Group, we will convene subject-matter experts, including parents in the community, to expand parent leadership at Bachman Lake Together through identifying best practices, evaluating gaps and developing tools for growth and continuous improvement.

We are happy to have had a successful kick-off Working Group meeting this past Wednesday, April 26th. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we are excited to share this journey with you!

A special thank you to all of our community partners in attendance: Big Thought, Community Action Network, The Concilio, Dallas Afterschool, Dallas ISD Early Learning, Dallas ISD Parent Support Offices, Education Opens Doors, Girl Scouts, KERA, Leadership ISD and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
